Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) CAT 2021: IIMs has proudly released their Official Admission Notification for their various courses under the Postgraduate, Fellow, or Doctorate program for the session 2021-22. Applicants can now fill in their desired courses by following and lying under some sort of criteria and instructions which is mentioned there.

Likewise every year, IIMs will conduct a Computer-based Common Admission Test (CAT) 2021 on November 28, 2021. The whole exam will be classified into three sessions.

IIMs CAT 2021: Eligibility

  1. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree, with at least 50% of aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA (For candidates belonging to the General/Non-creamy Layer OBC/EWS category), awarded by any recognized university.
  2. In case, the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Cast (SCs), Scheduled Tribe (STs), or Persons with Disability (PwDs), should have at least 45% of aggregate marks in their Bachelor's degree. 
  3. Students who are in their final year or semester can also avail themselves of the same opportunity to fill the application form & pursue their desired course.
  4. Candidates applying for CAT 2021 should fulfill any one of the following conditions;
  • Completed Bachelor's degree with the aforesaid percentage of marks, 
  • Completed Professional Degree (CA/CS/ICWA/Fellow of the Institutes of Actuaries of India) with the aforesaid percentage of marks.
  • Should be a final year student with a Bachelor's degree with the required percentage of marks.

IIMs CAT 2021: Reservation

As per the Govt. of India notifications- 

  • 15% of total seats are reserved for SCs candidates,
  • 7.5% of total seats are reserved for STs candidates,
  • 27% of total seats are reserved for Non-creamy layer OBCs,
  • 10% of total seats are reserved for EWS candidates.

As per the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disability (RPwD) Act, 2016-

  • 5% of total seats would be reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (persons having at least 40% disability of a specified disability list).
Category of Disability;
  1. Blindness and Low Visibility.
  2. Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  3. Locomotor Disability- Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack, Muscular Dystrophy.
  4.  Autism/Intellectual Disability/ Specific Learning Disability/Mental Illness.
  5. Having Multiple Disability- option (1) to (4).
  6. Other Specific Disability is mentioned under the RPwD Act 2016.
Note- For claiming the category or reservation seats, candidates will have to submit the concerning documents at the respective counseling and also have to be uploaded while filling the application form.
The same certificate also has to be handover at the time of the interview at the institution. No change of category facility would be avail to the candidates after the final submission of the form.

IIMs CAT 2021: Registration Fee

  1. The candidates belonging to the General/OBC Non-creamy layer/EWS category, have to pay Rs. 2200.
  2. Otherwise for the SCs/STs/PwDs candidates, only Rs. 1100.
Note- Registration fee is completely non-refundable.

IIMs CAT 2021: Test Centres

As we are facing such a drastic and horrible situation like COVID-19, in view of all that the administration has decided to expand the examination centers and announced to have 158 centers across the nation. 

The Candidates have to choose six (06) different centers at the time of filling registration cum admission form.

IIMs CAT 2021: Some Special Provision

  • Candidates must maintain a valid mail/mobile no throughout the selection process.
  • As sometimes, candidates made mistakes while filling the form than in view of all that registration form Edit Window will be available to the candidates fr these three things-
  1. Photograph
  2. Signature
  3. Test City
  • The test would be for 120 minutes (2 hours). There will be three sessions-
  1. Section I: Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension.
  2. Section II: Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning.
  3. Section III: Quantitative Ability.

  • For those candidates who are in appearing or final years and could not submit their respective original document to the required officers, then the deadline for submitting the qualifying degree/mark sheet and certificate is strictly instructed on 31st December 2022.
  • Failing the submission of the required documents by the deadline might leads to the cancellation of provisional admission.
  • The provisional admission will also be canceled if subsequently it is found that the submitted certificate is incorrect.
